FAN Based Game Idea for a fangame

You know... Since the beginning, the Bacterions have been deploying hundreds of thousands of Big Core units.(Judging by the cinematics, it would seem that way) I'd imagine Big Core getting rather ticked off, always being sent off as cannon fodder, again and again and again... Big Core is almost as iconic to the Gradius series as the Moai, the leak-load powerup system, and the Vic Viper. I'd say it'd be funny if Big Core got its own game, or a playable role in another. What says ye?

I'm kind of thinking about making a fangame where you use one of the machines and fight other machines like in a fighting arcade game, Big Core being one of the first listed. Not using Mugen (or whatever it's called), though.

Aye, I'd love to play as a Big Core. Japanese mobile phone users have precisely that opportunity, too; Gradius Neo Imperial has been out for quite a while. I can't stand mobiles, though - or the prospect of trying to play a video game on one. Let's hope this becomes a console-based reality! :p

Or, at least on the computer. I have the knowledge to take care of this, I think, but it's just I need to figure out how some machines will deal damage (like Tetran, who has no visible long range attack except enemy bullets and its arms).

Default Perhaps...

You might have already thought of it... (if you have, forgive me) but in the recent Gradius entries, Tetran will also shoot lasers.

Tetran's already powerful as is, the arms could damage the core(s) without breaking the barriers just by using its arms. I can reduce this advantage, though, by having weak barriers on Tetran, since the barriers are weaker than usual, anyway, since the arms also block laser fire. Although no match for an ace pilot of the Vic Viper, it sure can beat the other machines rather easily. I kinda like this fangame idea. Maybe I'll make this game before making the sequel to Chameleon, it sounds so much easier to make than an actual Gradius game.

The Tetran's arms could function as a shield, sort of like the shields in Abadox. Just make them spin faster or curl in or something.

Well, having Core Warships as playable ships may be very interesting. Vic Viper is cool, but I've got bored of having it as the only playable characters. By the way, if the Cores are going to fight Gradian forces, then there should be a Gradian equivalent of Bacterion.

A Gradian equivalent of Bacterion? Whatever the heck would that be like? I'm thinking maybe the final boss of a Neo Imperial-like fangame could be some monstrous machine or supernatural force...possibly controlled by the current Gradian emperor...or maybe they're controlling him!

Yeah, maybe something like Venom's machine in Nemesis 2.
But there's still one problem: I don't think Gradian ships will be similar to the Cores, so what shall they have as weakspots?
